Today happens to be a beautiful, sunny Fall day in Frederick, MD. My husband’s mom is staying with us, and we decided to take a little drive and visit one of the many beautiful destinations here in Frederick!
There are several pumpkin patch/farm-type places in this area that are a lot of fun for the whole family. We’ve been to Summer’s Farm, and Jumbo’s in Middletown, so today we decided on Crumland Farms.
We visited on a Saturday afternoon about 2:00, and there was plenty of parking and just enough people there to make it feel like it was the place to be, but not so many people that you wanted to turn around and leave! At the entrance there are already-picked pumpkins (all pumpkins are 50 cents per pound) and an area where they sell cute little gourds and a few other seasonal items.
Crumland Farms is really a great place to visit for all ages. They have a huge 8-acre corn maze, a little tractor-pulled train ride, 2 big slides (one is a tube slide and one is on the side of a big hill), play equipment, a petting zoo with goats and a pig, horseback rides, a pavillion area (where there was a birthday party going on when we were there), hot food sales (hot dogs, burgers, nachos/cheese, etc.), and they have some haunted attractions at night! Oh! And, of course, the hayride to the pumpkin patch!!!
We ended up spending a few hours at Crumland Farms today – my 2 sons, who are 10 and 13, explored through the corn maze with my husband and had a blast. My mother-in-law and I walked around and enjoyed the scenery and got a bite to eat. We saw this guy in the food area!
After we sat for a little while, we all went on the hayride and picked some pumpkins! Of course my 13 year old wanted the biggest pumpkin in the patch – he says it’s “ginormous”. I thought we’d end up spending $50 on pumpkins, but we only spent $27 🙂 There are fees for some of the attractions, like the corn maze ($9 each person) but everything else we did today was free (no fee for parking, no admission fee). As we were walking back to the car, my 13 year old informed me, “Mom, you made a good call today picking this place.” Score! I will leave you with the link to Crumland Farms (http://www.crumland.com/).
