You can find kids sports organizations throughout all of the main towns within Frederick County Maryland!
It’s just a matter of where to find them and finding the right fit for your child.
Kids Sports in Frederick, Md
For most parents, their reason for signing their children up for kids sports is for them to be active, to meet friends, and to learn how to be a team player in an organized sport.
But, at first, some kids may not know what sport they want to play.
And that’s okay!
Our son who is now 14, experienced a couple years of going back and forth between soccer and baseball.
Then, once he knew which one he liked the most, he chose baseball as his favorite sport to play.
Tennis is a close 2nd!
Playing a Sport Close to Home
Anyway, our desire was for him to participate in kids sports with kids who also go to his school and church.
So the best option was to find a kids sports league close to home.
This is our son in the very beginning of his sports journey.
He played tee ball and at that age, for him, it was all about the snacks and juice boxes the team would get at the end of the game.
It was all so much fun for him and also for us!
Playing Sports Through The Years
Fast forward and now our son has played baseball every spring and fall for the last 10 years.
Each year he gets more skilled and confident.
In addition, we parents have thoroughly enjoyed the journey, rooting on our son and seeing him develop and progress into the young man he is now.
Our goal has never been for our son to make it in the big leagues.
Of course that would be nice, but it’s not that realistic.
Instead, we’re so happy that he’s had all these years of experience, learning how to be a good sport, win or lose, not get too down when he has a bad game, and to celebrate the good games.
The coaches we’ve encountered in the organizations our son has played for have all been great role models.
As we learned when we first decided to enroll our son in organized sports years ago, it can be a very daunting task.
Keep in mind, they’re young and they’re going to change their minds, most likely 2 or 3 times until they find a sport or two that they enjoy.
You’ll ask yourself:
- What sport should we sign him up for?
- When is registration?
- What equipment should we buy for him?
- What if he decides he doesn’t like playing?
We were lucky to find this information out by word-of-mouth through parents of our son’s friends.
But if you’re new to the area or just can’t get any information, we’re here to help out!
To make your search a little bit easier, we decided to put together a nice list of all the opportunities for kids to learn & play sports in Frederick County.
