Frederick County has an incredible and growing collection of locally owned boutiques and specialty shops, especially in Downtown Frederick. And if you’re anything like me, half the fun of shopping local is finding something you haven’t already seen everywhere else.
Whether you’re looking for women’s clothing and accessories, a unique gift for someone who’s impossible to buy for, locally made goods, home décor, vintage finds or just an excuse to spend an afternoon shopping, there’s a little bit of everything.
This isn’t meant to be a complete directory of every shop in Frederick. Instead, I’ve put together a curated mix of boutiques and local shops throughout Frederick County, including longtime favorites and some newer additions to the shopping scene.
I’ve shopped many of these places myself over the years, and I especially love the shops where you walk in not knowing what you’re looking for and walk out with something you never would’ve found at a big chain store. I’d much rather show up with a gift that makes someone ask, “Where did you FIND this?”
And because Frederick’s shopping scene keeps growing and changing, I’ll continue updating this guide as I discover new places.

Alicia-L Boutique
📍 149 N Market St, Downtown Frederick
A longtime Downtown Frederick women’s fashion destination with two shopping experiences under one roof. Alicia-L carries classic women’s styles, while The Boutique at 145 leans toward more on-trend fashion and accessories.
A Perfect Fit Bra Boutique
📍 14 N East St, Downtown Frederick
Sometimes the most important thing you’re shopping for is the thing nobody sees. A Perfect Fit specializes in professional bra fittings with sizes ranging from everyday and special-occasion bras to sports, maternity, mastectomy and post-surgical styles.

Corn Crib Boutique
📍 2 W Frederick St, Walkersville
If you like finding clothing you aren’t going to see on everybody else, Corn Crib is a locally owned Walkersville boutique with women’s clothing, jewelry, accessories and seasonal finds.
Lou Lou Boutique
📍 29 N Market St, Downtown Frederick
Lou Lou is a familiar stop along Market Street for women’s fashion, jewelry, accessories, handbags and gifts.
Molly’s Meanderings
📍 17 N Market St, Downtown Frederick
A Downtown Frederick staple since 2000, Molly’s is one of those shops where you can look for an outfit and end up finding the gift you forgot you needed. You’ll find women’s apparel, scarves, handbags, jewelry, bath and body products and plenty of gift ideas.
Sky’s the Limit Boutique
📍 200A N Market St, Downtown Frederick
If jewelry is your weakness, you’ve been warned. Sky’s the Limit has been in Downtown Frederick since 1991 and is known for its hand-selected collection of sterling silver and semi-precious stone jewelry from artists around the world, along with women’s clothing and accessories.

The Turquoise Trailer Boutique
📍 104 W Main St, Middletown
Western-inspired style is the specialty here, with women’s clothing, accessories and plenty of personality. It’s a fun one to know about if your style leans a little more boots-and-denim than pearls-and-pumps.

Velvet Lounge
📍 203 N Market St, Downtown Frederick
Another longtime Market Street women’s boutique featuring contemporary clothing, designer denim, footwear and accessories.
Zest Clothing & Co.
📍 100 N Market St, Downtown Frederick
A newer addition to Frederick’s boutique scene with a mix of women’s clothing and accessories that ranges from current trends to pieces you’ll wear beyond one season.
Unique Gifts, Handmade Goods & Fun Finds
For birthdays, hostess gifts, holidays, “just because” presents and those impossible-to-buy-for people who already have everything. These are also the dangerous little shops where you go in “just to look” and somehow come out carrying a bag.
Augusta Rose
📍 43 E Patrick St, Downtown Frederick
Augusta Rose is one of those shops that’s fun to wander when you don’t necessarily know what you’re looking for yet. It’s especially good for unique gifts and little unexpected finds, whether you’re shopping for a birthday, hostess gift or that person who already seems to have everything.
Brick and Mortar Mercantile
📍 15 N Market St, Downtown Frederick
A modern mercantile with clothing, accessories, gifts and locally inspired goods for both women and men. This is a good stop when you’re shopping for someone who’s notoriously hard to buy for.

Frederick MADE
📍 130 N East St, Shab Row
If you specifically want a locally made gift from Frederick, this is an easy place to start. Frederick MADE celebrates local creativity with handmade gifts, art, stationery, craft projects and plenty of Frederick and Maryland-inspired goodies. They’ve also recently moved to their new home in Shab Row.
Mount Airy Commons
📍 118 S Main St, Mount Airy
If you love the idea of finding one-of-a-kind gifts while supporting several small businesses at once, this one’s worth knowing about. Mount Airy Commons recently got a major makeover and is now home to 25+ local makers, artists and independent retailers inside its walk-through “Main Street Marketplace.”
OddBelle

Looking for a gift that’s a little quirky, artsy or completely unexpected? If you remember The Muse, meet its new chapter. The longtime Downtown Frederick shop was reimagined as OddBelle in 2026, with affordable art, hand-printed apparel, jewelry, candles, home goods and delightfully unusual finds.
Basically, if you don’t want something that looks like you grabbed it from the same store everybody else shops at, poke around in here.
Retro-Metro

Retro-Metro has been making people say, “Wait, LOOK at this!” for years. It’s packed with quirky gifts, nostalgic finds, toys, books, accessories and home décor. This is one of my picks when you need an unusual gift for someone who has everything or you just want to laugh while you’re shopping.
Rosebud & Jo Children’s Boutique
📍 113 N Market St, Downtown Frederick
One of the newest shops to hit Downtown Frederick, Rosebud & Jo is a children’s boutique with clothing, gifts and finds for babies and kids. The Frederick storefront officially opens September 19, 2026.
Tiara Day
📍 141 N Market St, Downtown Frederick
“The place where girlfriends shop” feels pretty appropriate for this list. Tiara Day combines vintage glamour, jewelry, clothing, gifts, décor and accessories in a shop that’s as much about the browsing experience as what you take home.
Waves of Tory
📍 143 N Market St, Downtown Frederick
A family-run boutique bringing a little coastal feeling to Frederick through meaningful jewelry, gifts and accessories inspired by New England harbors, the Lowcountry and island life.
Zebop
📍 9 S Market St, Downtown Frederick
A longtime Downtown Frederick favorite for funky clothing, accessories and the kind of finds that don’t look like everything else you’ve already seen.
Home Décor, Vintage & One-of-a-Kind Finds
For the woman who absolutely does not need another thing for her house…until she sees THAT.
Alora Pure
📍 107 E Patrick St, Downtown Frederick
If you love beautiful things that don’t look mass-produced, Alora Pure is one to know about. This newer Downtown Frederick shop specializes in Turkish textiles, handmade ceramics, mosaic lamps and thoughtfully made pieces for the home that feel very different from what you’ll find at a big-box store.
Hearth & Home Mercantile

A beautiful mix of home décor, gifts and hand-selected antiques with a French country and English cottage feel. Inventory changes regularly, with everything from original artwork and statement antiques to candles, jewelry and textiles.

Relove & Rewind
📍 318 E Church St, Everedy Square & Shab Row
Opened in 2025, Relove & Rewind puts a curated spin on thrifting with hand-selected secondhand and vintage clothing, accessories, home goods and collectibles.
If you’re someone who loves the thrill of finding the thing nobody else has, this one’s for you.
Take Root
📍 10 N East St, Everedy Square
Calling all plant people. Take Root is a welcoming houseplant shop filled with healthy indoor plants and accessories, whether you’ve got a full-blown indoor jungle happening or you’re still trying not to kill your first pothos.
Venus on the Half Shell
📍 101 E Patrick St, Downtown Frederick
A Frederick vintage-shopping institution with vintage clothing, accessories and home finds spanning decades. This is one to browse when you’d much rather find something with a story than something everybody else is wearing.
Vintage MC
📍 24 E Patrick St, Downtown Frederick
Mid-century modern fans should know this one. Vintage MC specializes in furniture and home décor from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s, with new pieces coming through regularly.
Specialty Shops That Do Their Own Thing
Some Frederick shops just don’t belong in a neat little box. That’s part of what makes them fun.
Southbound Western Wear & Boots
📍 911 E Patrick St, Frederick
Western wear is the name of the game here, with boots, cowboy hats, clothing, jewelry, belts, leather bags and other western-inspired finds.

Studio 24E
📍 21 E Main St, Thurmont
Part boutique, part gift shop and part custom framing studio, Studio 24E has been in Frederick County for 25 years. You’ll find jewelry, clothing, designer accessories, home décor, gifts, beauty products and plenty more.
Treaty General Store
📍 30 E Patrick St, Downtown Frederick
Treaty General Store mixes American-made clothing and denim with homewares, apothecary products and small-batch goods. It’s also a handy shop when you’re looking for something for the men in your life and have exhausted your usual ideas.
Make a Day of Shopping in Frederick
One of the best things about this list is how easy it is to turn shopping into an actual day out.
Many of these shops are clustered in Downtown Frederick, particularly along Market and Patrick Streets and around Everedy Square & Shab Row.
And because so many of these are independent shops you won’t find in every other town, even window shopping can be half the fun.
Grab coffee, browse a few shops, stop for lunch and maybe finish with happy hour. Suddenly that “quick shopping trip” has taken six hours. Funny how that happens.

Frederick’s Shopping Scene Keeps Growing
Frederick’s local shopping scene has changed so much over the last few years, and that’s part of what makes putting together a list like this fun. There always seems to be something new opening, moving or reinventing itself.
