If you’re heading toward Thurmont and want another fall stop, Catoctin Mountain Orchard is worth knowing about even though I wouldn’t classify it the same way as the pumpkin patches above.

Stop for apples, the farm market, baked goods and its enormous seasonal pumpkin display. It’s an easy add-on to a fall drive through northern Frederick County.

Butler’s Orchard is one of the area’s biggest destination pumpkin festivals, with pick-your-own pumpkins, hayrides, a corn maze, giant slides, farm animals and plenty of activities.

BEST FOR: A big pumpkin-festival experience when you don’t mind driving beyond Frederick County

BAUGHERS ORCHARD & FARM

📍 Westminster, MD | About 28 miles from Frederick

Baugher’s Orchard & Farm combines pumpkin picking with the classic orchard experience, including wagon rides, farm animals, a market and plenty of fall food.

It’s also a good one to remember if you like pairing your pumpkin trip with a stop for apples and other farm-market goodies.
